Rafael Mejia

Rafael Mejia is a passionate leader, educator, artist, and communicator. He has experience as an entertainment journalist, college professor, bilingual public speaker, actor, playwright, executive director, theater, TV, and event producer. He earned a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Journalism and Mass Communications from Florida International University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Theater from the University of the Sacred Heart. His passion for education brought him to work for several years as a College Professor with the City University of New York teaching Theater, Public Speaking, Spanish, and ESL courses. Rafael has also worked as a television producer and reporter for several TV shows with Telemundo and Univision Networks. As a community leader, he has been part of the Board of Directors or the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, judge member of the New America Awards for the Society of Professional Journalists, president of the Exchange Clubs Non-Profit Organization, executive director of the National Honor Society, Inc., and vice-chair of the National Playwriting Program of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Rafael also became a caregiver for his own mother during her cancer-treatment journey.
