CCA Provides Free, Quality Training Programs for Caregivers in California

In-Home (IHSS) Caregivers

At CCA, In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) providers, or home caregivers, receive training in essential skills, emergency & disaster readiness, Alzheimer’s disease & other chronic conditions to build job skills and deliver quality care to aging adults and people with disabilities. Our classes are designed to help both caregivers and care recipients.

Nursing Home Caregivers

CCA provides pathways to career advancement in nursing homes. Our free certified nursing assistant (CNA) and licensed vocational nurse (LVN) training programs are available to eligible nursing home workers who are part of the SEIU Local 2015. These programs advance worker skills and improve quality of care in skilled nursing facilities.

CCA Trains Caregivers to Help Meet California’s Increasing Care Needs

By 2030, 1 in 5 adults in California, nearly 10 million people, will be aged 65 or older. Many will need long-term care. Yet, the state has a shortage of skilled caregivers in two critical areas: those who provide in-home care to support independent living, and those who work in nursing homes as certified nursing assistants and licensed vocational nurses to support assisted living.

Research Shows CCA Training Programs Make a Difference

Our research partners study the impact of our training programs. The data shows that CCA training increases skills and confidence for IHSS workers, and reduces unnecessary ER visits and hospitalizations for consumers in their care. Our CNA & LVN apprenticeships help nursing homes recruit and retain skilled nursing assistants, while elevating quality of care for residents.
