Elizabeth brings a great deal of hands-on experience to the Field Coordinator role. Prior to joining CCA, she was an Accounting/Program Assistant at Transitions Children’s Services. There she worked as a mental health program assistant, medical billing technician, and Spanish interpreter.

Elizabeth is deeply familiar with the public health space. She was a CNA in 2004, providing care for Alzheimer’s patients in an adult day care center for over five years. Since then, she has worked as a Crisis Intervention Coordinator, Foster Family Development Specialist, as well as a Pro-Act (Professional Assault Crisis Trainer) and CPR Trainer.

Jessica is originally from Dallas, TX, but moved to sunny California to attend university at LMU. She ended up staying in L.A. and now lives with her furbaby – a very affectionate cat named Ozzie. She has been working in administrative roles for six years, and is excited to transition into the healthcare sphere. After being a caretaker herself for her mother in 2020, she is looking forward to helping others get the education they need to better help those in need.

Miya has been working in the healthcare field for 20 years, providing care for a diverse population. She began her career as an In-Home Care Provider and furthered her education in health care as a Licensed Vocational Nurse through the University of the Antelope Valley. As an LVN, Miya worked in mental health, pediatric, and geriatric care. These experiences led her to discover her passion for education.

Miya received her degree in Healthcare Administration, as well as her Director of Staff Development state certification. Before joining the CCA, Miya worked as an instructor for Certified Nursing Assistant programs for over 10 years. As an Instructor, Miya’s expertise in healthcare affords her knowledge to meet the needs of the diverse student population she educates at CCA.

Phoenix Lockett is excited to join the CCA Ed Fund team as a new program director! She brings with her over 18 years of expertise in Workforce and Program Development and Project and Performance Management. Phoenix has served many managerial positions throughout her career. Prior to joining us at CCA, she worked for SEIU-UHW & Joint Employer Education Fund serving the role of Senior Director of Programs. Her extensive educational background consists of a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and ten different certifications including Coaching Power Leadership, Foundational Coach Methodology, and Organizational Health in Business.

Precious Webb is CCA’s Clinical Instructional Assistant, joining CCA’s Skilled Nursing/ Ed Fund team. She is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with a solid background in Cyber Security and Information Technology. Precious is adept and experienced in customer service, inventory management, research, and data entry, and is excited to hone these skills in her role here at CCA. She is also currently pursuing a dual associate’s degree in cyber security and information technology.

Amerika Salas is the Program Assistant for our Home Care Department. She provides administrative support for the programmatic and data management needs of the department. Amerika was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She holds a degree in Psychology; Social & Behavioral Sciences. Amerika has over 10 years of experience assisting and working with an Operations team. Before joining CCA she worked as an Administrative Assistant for a Jewish Synagogue.

Andrea Garcia is an experienced Program Manager with expertise in navigating complex operational landscapes including learning management systems, managing budgets, and overseeing diverse initiatives to ensure their success. A dedicated team member, she originally joined CCA in 2018 as a Program Assistant then took on the role of Program Coordinator prior to becoming a Program Manager for the Home Care team in 2021. Andrea is skilled in providing mentorship, training, and supervision to program managers and other staff. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and has a certification in Project Management from the Project Management Institute. Andrea is also bilingual with full fluency in English and Spanish.

Man Hon (Andrew) So is a new bilingual (Cantonese) instructor here at CCA! Andrew describes himself as “a musician, a coffee enthusiast, a chef, a teacher, a father, and a Godly man want-to-be.” He has a lifelong passion for music that is reflected in his education and experience as he holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition from Biola University and has held various instructor and tutoring positions in the classical music field. He is excited to apply his knowledge and experience in instructional positions to teach caregivers on CCA’s Home Care Team! A fun fact about Andrew is that he was also the founder, head chef and barista of a specialty coffee café!

Angel Mis is joining the CCA team as a bilingual learning specialist. He graduated from UC San Diego, where he majored in Psychology. Angel has a huge passion for urban communities, as he grew up in South Central, plays music at a church in Compton, and volunteers to paint murals in East LA. He has spent extended time in classrooms with K-12 students. Angel’s immediate goals are to empower his community with 1-on-1 interactions and give back to his community.

As the Assistant Enrollment Manager for CCA’s Home Care team, Angelica performs recruitment, enrollment, and class coordination for our educational programs. She is passionate about supporting under-resourced and underrepresented communities. She brings a positive and lively energy to CCA. Before joining CCA, Angelica worked in several roles at a nonprofit in Los Angeles. In her most recent position, she was the Membership and Parent Services Senior Manager, where she oversaw recruitment, enrollment, retention, member safety, and parent services. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Art History from the University of Southern California and a master’s from Cal State Los Angeles. Angelica enjoys yoga, baking, and painting.

Antonio is a physician with a lifelong commitment to improving the health of families and communities. He grew up in Cuba, where he earned his medical doctorate with a specialty in family medicine and OB/Gyn from Universidad de Ciencias Medicas de Santiago de Cuba. He emigrated to the US in 2011, where he has dedicated himself to medical education.

“As an instructor for the CCA, I am gratified to work with IHSS providers,” Antonio says. “They have a tremendous responsibility as a member of the consumer’s healthcare team. For example, properly administering medications is critically important to the health and well-being of the care recipients. It is also important for providers to understand when it is appropriate to seek out emergency care in order to reduce the burden on the healthcare system and reduce hospitalizations. Through my work, I am helping to improve healthcare quality throughout the community.”

Armine Vartan is an education professional who is joining CCA’s Home Care team as a new instructor! Armine grew up in Armenia and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Teacher Education of Biology and Chemistry from Armenia State Pedagogical University. She has abundant professional experience in the educational field, having served a variety of roles including a program coordinator for the Children of Armenia Fund as well as an educational expert for the National Institute for Education at the Ministry of Education and Science Republic of Armenia. She also has experience as a teacher and an associate principal. Armine earned her Master’s Degree in Public Health at Cal State Northridge in 2022.

Prior to joining CCA, Blanca Lopez served as a Member Services Intern at SEIU 2015. She primarily introduced members to SEIU functions, departments, and operations while managing the reception desk. Blanca joined CCA earlier this summer as a Home Care Intern, where she provided administrative support and helped execute program projects for the team.

Recently, Blanca transitioned to the role of Home Care Program Coordinator. Within this role, Blanca provides administrative, program, and data management support to the Home Care department. 

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Blanca graduated from Cal State Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Christella Frutos completed her undergraduate degree in child development at CSULA. She went on to receive her mild/moderate education specialist credential from the beginning teachers program at the Los Angeles Office of Education. Through her personal and professional experiences, she has developed a strong will to uplift and support her community of South Los Angeles. Christella’s drive is empowered by helping them demonstrate their strong capabilities as well as empower others to advocate for needs in the community.

Chuhui Cen is CCA’s new Bilingual Learning Specialist who has a passion for teaching and languages. She is an experienced Chinese instructor, having served this role at the Orange County Language Institute, at Preply.com, and a substitute at Riverside HuaXia Chinese School. She has also studied the German language and has experience in research at California State University, Long Beach. Chuhui holds a master’s degree in linguistics and a bachelor’s degree in international Chinese education.

Connie Gutiérrez joined the CCA Home Care team as a bilingual (Spanish) instructor in April 2024. With a passion for caregiving and education, Connie brings over a decade of experience in adult learner instruction and In-Home Supportive Services caregiving. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Gerontology from Mount Saint Mary’s University and prior to joining CCA, Connie worked for over 13 years as a bilingual adult learner instructor in the food safety industry and she is also her mother’s IHSS caregiver. Connie has been involved in the diabetes online community since her type 1 diabetes diagnosis in 2013. She has hosted meet-ups for others to offer support and/or share stories of what it’s like living with diabetes and/or caring for someone with diabetes. She is dedicated to helping others advocate for themselves when it comes to proper care and management of their disease. She is a native Angeleno and resides in Northeast Los Angeles with her husband, her fur kids, and her mother. Outside of work, Connie enjoys baking low carb and gluten free treats, traveling, dancing, karaoke, good food, great company, and spreading positive vibes.

Corina Lara is excited to bring her passion for healthcare and education to the CCA Home Care team as an instructor! After seven years in a lead teaching position at the Children’s Institute Incorporated, Corina went on to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Biology (with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology) from Syracuse University. She has both work and volunteer experience in the healthcare field having served as an intern, dental assistant and lead dental assistant at different dental offices and as a volunteer at the Harbor- UCLA Medical Center. Corina has also been a Respite Care Provider since 2012. She is currently pursuing her Post-Baccalaureate at UCLA as a Pre-Medical and General Science Studies Certificate Program Candidate. Corina is also a native Spanish speaker!

Jongwoo Edmonson Lim, or Eddie for short, was born in Seoul, South Korea, and came to Los Angeles when he was 8 years old. He was determined to get a good education at an early age. He got involved in searching for scholarships and writing to charities that took him to Minnesota, where he spent his high school and college years. He returned to L.A. after about a decade of living in the frigid North, and has been here ever since.

Edelmira Thompson has been with CCA since 2021 but her journey in caregiving began in 2016 when she became an IHSS provider. Since her own experience as a caregiver, Edelmira has filled various other roles in the healthcare field, including an assistant role for SEIU Local 2015. She enjoys her job as a Field Assistant on CCA’s Home Care team because she is passionate about helping others succeed in life. She is a “people person” and a proud mom of four- three beautiful young ladies and one handsome young man- and is the grandmother to nine grandbabies who she loves dearly.

Erick started his career in the field of education by becoming a bilingual teacher’s assistant in Long Beach. After he graduated from CSULB in 2020, he taught first- and second-grade students. He then worked for an arts-integrated organization in Long Beach bringing art programs to schools across LA County and the country. This journey has brought him to CCA and he is excited to see what the future holds!

Irene Yee is excited to join the CCA Home Care Team as a Learning Specialist! She has experience in both the education and healthcare spheres as she served prior professional roles at Elevo Learning and Kaiser Permanente. Irene holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from California State Polytechnic University. While she is skilled in management, she also has a creative side. Her interests include art, journaling and vlogging. Irene is also multilingual; in addition to English, she speaks Cantonese and Mandarin.

Kia Watley is a new Lead Instructor on CCA’s Home Care team! Kia is a Certified Medical Assistant and Licensed Vocational Nurse who is highly-skilled and passionate about home care and nursing. She has substantial experience in the caregiving field as she previously filled two managerial roles at residential home care facilities, and has worked as a lead caregiver and an LVN Charge Nurse. Additionally, Kia holds numerous medical certifications and licenses. She is excited to bring her experience and knowledge to the CCA team!

Marlene Lopez is a dedicated and responsive educator with over nine years of experience working in education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in educational psychology – early childhood education. Marlene has taught elementary school children in a dual immersion program and provided Floortime Intervention, Adaptive Skills Therapy, and social skills classes for children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities. She has conducted training of parents in a group and individual setting to help adapt strategies and techniques used in sessions. Marlene has collected data, written clinical reports, and conducted assessments for clients receiving social skills therapy.

Martha originally joined CCA as an intern, and currently works as a Field Assistant on the Home Care team. In this role, she helps IHSS+ providers with program enrollment, helping students ultimately graduate from the IHSS+ program and earn their certificate.

She has prior experience working as an IHSS caregiver, a Spanish Interpreter, and was previously a Member Lead at SEIU 2015, aiding in membership recruitment, bringing support to organizers, leads, and helped facilitate and train members to successfully meet their goals.

Moraima is a cum laude graduate of South University in Savanah, Georgia, with a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor of science degree in Healthcare Management. She brings 30 years of domestic and international experience in clinical operations and management and over 13 years leading healthcare education and quality improvement programs. Moraima is Certified as a Healthcare Simulation Educator and Simulation Operations Specialist through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare; and is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer. Prior to joining CCA, she served as Director of Simulation and Education for PIH Health, a nonprofit healthcare system located in Whittier California.

Nathalie Cordova is a new Learning Specialist on CCA’s Home Care team! She is experienced in care management, specifically working with clients facing homelessness and mental health concerns. Nathalie has also served professional roles in the educational sphere as a Behavior Interventionist and as an Instructional Aide for elementary students. She has a bachelor’s degree in applied linguistics and is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Nune Grigoryan has nine years of experience working for nonprofit organizations, private sector and local government. She worked for Caritas Internationalis Humanitarian Organization as a transnational program coordinator in Armenia, Austria, France and Lebanon. As she holds her master’s Degree in Sociology/Statistics, research is something she is passionate about and she has worked as lead researcher and co-researcher for a few European Academic Institutions. In the United States, she worked for the Office of Head Start and for the City of Pasadena.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Pearl Alvarez is bilingual in English and Spanish. As a dedicated teacher and mentor, She has traveled and taught in Mexico and the Middle East.  Such experience granted her the opportunity to glean a deeper understanding of many student populations, and in turn helped her discover many of the strategies needed to effectively interact and communicate with different cultures. Pearl is known for her responsible and friendly nature, always determined to make a positive impact. Self-motivated and passionate about education, she strives to inspire and empower those around her.

Born in a small village in southern China, Qianwen (who also goes by Grace) is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin. With a 6-year background in education and services, she has assisted hundreds of overseas Chinese in resolving various education and product service-related issues. Her interests lie in researching traditional Chinese medicine for wellness, and she enjoys exploring different countries through travel. Looking ahead, Qianwen is enthusiastic about continuing to excel in the field of caregiving.

Passionate about coffee, passionate about life – that’s Qing Bai! Qing earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northwestern Poly-technical University. She took credits in special education through Diablo Valley College, all driven by love. In her spare time, Qing enjoys spending time with children and family, doing makeup and coordinating outfits, cooking delicious meals, and maintaining a neat and comfortable home. Then, she pairs it all with hand-brewed coffee, savoring the morning sunlight. Qing has studied tea art for many years, and her parents and grandparents are all tea lovers as well. If you want to know more about  “tea leaves” categories, she’s the one to go to for expert information!

Samuel Kwon comes to CCA with a diverse and rich background. He is fluent in Spanish and Korean. He was raised and educated in South America. He studied Business from Baruch College in New York, and master’s degrees in Inter-Cultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary and Divinity from Grace Mission University. He has a background in the medical field. He has led mission trips to South American countries, and developed and taught spiritual formation and other classes to train seminary students. He also served as an emergency responder and chaplain.

Susanna Saratikyan is joining CCA’s Home Care team as a Program Assistant! She recently earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside and is passionate about child psychology, law and business. She previously served the role of an Administrative Assistant at LegalNext Group LLC. Susanna has received numerous awards for her academic and extracurricular achievements such as National Honors, California State Senate Certificate of Recognition, and House of Representatives Certificate of Recognition. She also speaks four languages fluently: English, Armenian, Russian, and Spanish.

Susana Plaza- Madina (who goes by Susie) is a Bilingual Learning Specialist on CCA’s Home Care team. In addition to her native proficiency in both English and Spanish, Susie has a versatile background in education and support services and is thrilled to build upon her expertise in these disciplines here at CCA! Her commitment to making a positive impact in the community is exemplified through her previous role as a Life Skills Coach where she was instrumental in assisting adults with diverse disabilities. This passion also extends to the classroom as she previously served multiple educator roles, including a middle school Spanish teacher and a K-12 substitute teacher. Susie holds a bachelor’s degree in Cinematic Arts and a cleared teaching credential in Single Subject Spanish from Azusa Pacific University.

Thina Chham is bilingual in Khmer. She initially joined the CCA as an intern and has since transitioned to the role of Field Assistant on the Home Care team. She helps enroll IHSS providers into CCA’s training programs, so they can earn their certificate. She is an active member and volunteered for many SEIU 2015 campaigns in the past.

Vanessa is responsible for providing administrative, program, and data management support to CCA’s Home Care team. She works with the field and instruction teams to organize and prepare files needed to carry out recruitment and class coordination activities.

Prior to joining CCA, Vanessa was an administrative assistant for Social Vocational Services. In this role, she scheduled appointments, maintained calendars for staff, and assisted in communications such as invoices and reports.

She also brings experience having worked as a Home Care Aide, in which she supported clients with their basic needs, mobility, as well as mental and emotional support.

Vanessa earned her associate of science degree in Early Childhood Education in 2020.

Corinne Eldridge is a recognized expert on issues related to caregiving and the long-term care workforce. An accomplished leader with over 20 years of management experience, including more than 15 years in the field of long-term care, Corinne speaks to the benefits to the health care system of training nursing home workers and Medi-Cal funded In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) caregivers. Speaking engagements include: the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), NASUAD, and the American Society on Aging.

As the President of CCA, she has overseen efforts to train over 13,000 IHSS and Skilled Nursing Facility workers, ensuring that workers are prepared to meet the growing demands of long-term care. Corinne’s work lead to the first study to make the link between training IHSS caregivers and better health outcomes and cost savings for consumers. She has established innovative funding partnerships with health plans across the state, including Alameda Alliance for Health, Health Net, L.A. Care, and Blue Shield Promise California to provide training for IHSS caregivers. Her work has been published in the journal Gerontology & Geriatrics Education.  She has also served on the Advisory Committee for UCLA’s Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (UCLA GWEP), is on the Healthcare Career Advancement Program Education Association (H-CAP EA) Education Association Board, provided insight to the Community Catalyst and LeadingAge LTSS Center for the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council around family caregivers, and has recently been appointed to the National Skills Coalition Healthcare Industry Recovery Panel.

Corinne’s dedication to improving the long-term care system through education was inspired by seeing the challenges women in her family experienced as caregivers and the impact quality care can have on seniors’ life spans and quality of life. Married for over 10 years and a mother to two young daughters, Corinne is inspired by the outdoors and is a lover of music.

Gwyneth has over 28 years of experience across multiple industries with a concentration in the non-profit arena, with the last 15 focusing on management. As Chief Financial Officer, Gwyneth provides financial, operational, HR, and data management leadership for CCA.

Recently coming from a local arts & culture organization, she spent the last eight years developing systems and policies to fit the organization’s growth projections. The last two and a half years were spent pivoting program and financial plans to sustain operations and securing relief funding available during the pandemic.

Hailing from the East Coast and England, Gwyneth made the move to California where she resides and maintains a busy life with her husband and three children.

Kenneth Cooper, who goes by his last name “Cooper” is CCA’s Operations Analyst on our Finance and Operations team. Cooper loves to travel and get new experiences all across the world. He is a huge sports fanatic with his favorite teams being: San Francisco 49ers, LA Galaxy, LA Lakers, and LA Angels. Cooper loves to cook in his spare time and share many recipes with friends and family. He also takes pride in making sure he keeps a well-balanced lifestyle by working out in his free time.

Zach is originally from Los Angeles, California and earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance. As Senior Accountant at CCA, Zach has worked in the Accounting field for 20 years in the manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, and nonprofit industries. His knowledge in nonprofit accounting, and his overall love of accounting and finance is what brought him to CCA.

In his spare time, he enjoys being with family, traveling, cooking, reading, and art. In his own words, he also “loves working with spreadsheets and can’t imagine how he would survive without them.”

Simone is an experienced researcher with a passion for social equity, and is excited to contribute to the impactful work at the Center for Caregiver Advancement as a Research Analyst. Prior to joining CCA, she worked with various organizations to conduct research in the areas of immigration, workforce development, and government oversight. She holds a BS in Political Science/Data Analytics from the University of California San Diego, and an MSc in Political Science from Aarhus University in Denmark.

County Department of Public Health in monitoring COVID-19 data for the entire county. She is passionate about public health, long-term investments and analytics, and is bringing her experience and expertise in these fields to her Data Management Coordinator role.

Afolabi brings an extensive amount of experience to his new role as Salesforce Administrator. He is an expert when it comes to Salesforce, NetSuite, Boomi, and various other business systems.


Prior to joining CCA, Afolabi worked at Curative as a Salesforce Manager where he primarily defined, documented, and improved business processes and procedures within an organization of over 900 users. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance, as well as his Master’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge.

Marlene joined the CCA in 2013 as a program assistant and has since assumed positions of increasing responsibility. In her current position as a Data Management Coordinator, Marlene maintains the CCA’s database. This includes collecting, importing, analyzing and reporting program data, as well as collaborating with program staff to use data to meet program goals.Her previous experience includes a position as a data coordinator with Miller Kaplan Arase, an international full-service accounting firm, focusing on the radio, newspaper, and television industries. Marlene studied at Mount St. Mary’s University with a concentration in Gerontology.

“I am inspired by the commitment of the students and the staff who advocate for education and who work hard every day to add value to the long-term care workforce,” Marlene says. “I am proud to be part of the data team.”

Michele brings over 25 years of experience across various industries, primarily in the tech space, specializing in project and program management, strategic planning and execution, operations excellence, agile methodologies, software development life cycle, change management, and coaching and mentoring.

Michele has spent most of her career helping organizations establish Project & Portfolio Management teams to enhance cross-team collaboration and drive program success while prioritizing people over process. By placing people first, she believes we create a more collaborative and supportive work environment where everyone can thrive and succeed. She is excited to join our team and continue our mission. 

Originally from Toronto, Canada. Michele moved to California in 2004 and lives in Ventura, California with her husband, Matt, and fur babies: Izabel, Theo, and Clementine. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities like hiking with her husband and dog, or snowboarding during the winter months. She also loves traveling to new places to experience different cultures.

Sorcha is a nonbinary trans femme who has just returned to California after several years in Florida as a teacher. It studied U.S. History at Arizona State University, with a minor in political science which led to becoming a middle school social studies teacher, before deciding to pivot into behind the scenes education work. It has a passion for teaching, and will gladly share its knowledge with others in all areas of its interests. As the parent of two disabled children, Sorcha knows the importance of home health workers and is excited to be part of the CCA team.

Audrey Im is CCA’s Human Resources Coordinator. After studying Sociology at the University of California San Diego, she went on to serve numerous human resources and administrative roles across Southern California. Prior to joining the CCA team, Audrey most recently filled the roles of HR Coordinator and HR Representative for a variety of international and local businesses. She is a strong multitasker and communicator who engages seamlessly across all leadership levels.

Wendy Ramirez is CCA’s new Human Resources Director! She brings with her over 16 years of industry experience previously serving as the HR Director for DSD Companies, Morphe Brushes and Cosmetics, and GZ6G Technologies, among others. One of the most rewarding aspects of her career is providing employees with the knowledge and skills to complete their goals and success. Her professional legacy is having the honor of working with people who commit themselves to making their business and personal lives a success. In her free time, Wendy likes to do yoga and spend time with her two children- they especially love to hike together!
