Caregiving Testimonials

Meet the Caregivers we train and empower.
Hear from the consumers & nursing homes they support.

Our gallery of testimonials shares real quotes from caregiving students we have trained, their consumers, as well as our partnering nursing home employers, supporters, and the communities we serve.

Trained caregivers work hard to keep consumers safe & healthy
at home or in skilled nursing facilities.

Whether you are a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a nursing facility or a home caregiver helping an older adult or person with disabilities at home through In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) services, training is key.

IHSS Provider and Home Care Training Graduate

“I loved interacting with other caregivers in the class. You sometimes get the feeling that you are the only one dealing with caregiving issues, when in fact you are not, so it was nice to meet people in our community who deal with these same issues every day. I learned so much that I didn’t know!”

— Stephanie F.

Steve S., Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Administrator

“Our students are achieving success through the CNA training program at high levels. We are able to realize the tremendous benefit of seeing students gain their license and work on the floor of our facilities – providing a ‘home grown’ talent pool that is highly motivated and supported. Our new CNAs feel connected to our facilities because of CCA’s training program and services. Thank you for the partnership and support. I am so grateful to have a positive influence in the lives of our students and in the high-quality care they deliver to our residents!”

Manuel M., Certified Nursing Assistant Graduate

“It never hurts to try something new. I never expected to be a CNA, but I love building bonds with the nursing home residents. Everyone was so supportive during my training, so I never felt alone in this program. I’m glad I said yes to this CNA training. It has changed my perspective on what I’m capable of, and it has opened my eyes to a new side of caregiving.”

Stephanie F., IHSS Provider and Home Care Training Graduate

“I loved the Caregiving Essentials course and interacting with other caregivers in the class. You sometimes get the feeling that you are the only one dealing with caregiving issues, when in fact you are not, so it was nice to meet people in our community who deal with these same issues every day. I learned so much that I didn’t know — like preparing and handling food safely, how to read medication bottles, and more. These are all skills I can bring to the table.”

“The knowledge and skills I learned from the “Emergency & Disaster Readiness” course were vital and helped me be prepared when I had to evacuate during the Eaton Fire [a wildfire in LA County]. I had a bag with essentials and medicines ready that I quickly grabbed when I left the house with my consumer. Now, I always have my consumer wear a mask when the air quality is unhealthy.”

Sergio Donis, Statewide Field Director, SEIU Local 2015 & CCA Board Member

“We see that the work CCA leads and supports can create a different alternative to our current crisis of care. We see how confidence is boosted in caregivers after they complete your CCA training courses. Workers are inspired to grow and develop as caregivers. Through programs such as the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training, we have witnessed how a career pathway can be created among caregivers.”

“In the “Alzheimer’s & Related Dementias” course I learned there is no need to correct the consumer during conversations, and that we should not tell a consumer that their hallucinations are not real. I learned it is important to be patient, try different methods, don’t take things personally, and practice relaxation breathing.” (Translated from Spanish)

Anonymous, IHSS Provider and Home Care Training Graduate, PASC LA Program

“I learned how to transport someone who has limited mobility, and how to move them safely using good body mechanics to avoid injury for them and for myself. Before I learned this, I had hurt my back and had to miss work, so learning these skills was important to me.” (Translated from Spanish)

Anonymous, IHSS Provider and Home Care Training Graduate, San Bernardino Program

“In this program, I learned how to apply person-centered care, to be able to care for each consumer specifically to their needs. I also learned to meet my consumers where they are, and not to expect more than they can handle.”

Anonymous, Family Caregiver & IHSS Provider, San Bernardino Program

Even before the end of the “ADRD” course, it was easier for me to understand what my mom was going through. I learned not to push too hard with her and others who have Alzheimer’s or dementia because pushing will probably cause agitation.”
