IHSS Digital Literacy Training

CCA’s Digital Literacy Training for IHSS Workers is for IHSS caregivers who are experiencing technical difficulties or have previously dropped CCA’s online classes due to limited technology experience. This free digital literacy class can help you!

Students in this Digital Literacy Training will learn basic computer skills, such as how to navigate the internet, use the Blackboard and Genius e-learning platforms, join Zoom meetings, respond to emails, and more.

Digital Literacy Student, caregiver

To enroll in the Digital Literacy Training course, specific qualifications must be met. This course is offered to IHSS providers living in select counties only, as follows:  

San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Los Angeles Counties


Format: Instructor-led via Zoom (online)
Duration: 3 modules taught over 3 weeks, once per week for 2 hours and 40 minutes
Languages: English and Spanish 
Note: There is no cost for taking this course. Students who successfully complete all the course modules and requirements will receive a free digital device at the end of the program.

All Other Counties

If you don’t reside in the counties listed above, but are interested in taking a digital literacy course for caregivers, please click the button below to submit an “interest form.” We may be able to expand these caregiver training courses into other counties in California in the future, if there is enough interest.


Here’s what you will learn in the IHSS Digital Literacy Course:
Module 1: Communication Tools & Everyday Digital Skills

Focuses on essential email and Zoom skills needed for caregiving communication. Blackboard access is introduced only as part of the task flow for accessing training and joining sessions.

Module 2: Device Use & Internet Access

Focuses on caregivers using their own devices confidently by adjusting accessibility settings, connecting to the internet, and opening a web browser. Instruction emphasizes repeated performance of basic device actions. (Devices: Tablet provided by CCA)

Module 3: Digital Safety & Real-World Application

Focuses on recognizing scams, protecting personal information, searching for trusted resources, and completing a real caregiving-related digital task independently. Blackboard use is reinforced for accessing materials and completing required tasks.
