Become a CPR-certified, confident, and trained caregiver

IHSS+ is a 10-week training course. You’ll learn practical skills including:

  • Infection control
  • Nutrition and body mechanics
  • Medication adherence
  • CPR and first aid
  • Home safety, and much more.

Classes are offered in Spanish, English, Armenian, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean. Earn up to a $300 stipend upon graduation.

Free Programs

  • 10-week general skills program
  • Once a week class for 3.5 hours
  • Up to a $300 stipend after graduation
  • Must be an IHSS caregiver
  • Person you care for must be a member of LA Care (other health plans may be eligible)

  • 10-week Alzheimer’s-specific program
  • Once a week class for 3.5 hours
  • $300 stipend after taking all pre and post-graduation surveys
  • Must be an IHSS caregiver
  • Must live in Alameda county
  • Person you care for must be a member of Alameda Alliance for Health (other health plans may be eligible)
  • Person you care for must show signs of memory loss based on survey
  • Person you care for must be at least 50 years old
