Taking Care of the Care Workers

Care workers spend most of their time caring for others. When your job is to care for others, it is especially important to prioritize your own health and well-being. It is critical for care workers to develop self-care practices to prevent burnout. They can learn tools that help improve their physical and emotional well-being.

An entire class module in the IHSS Caregiving Essentials course at the Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) is dedicated to Self-Care for Caregivers. In this module, participants will learn about self-care and the importance of engaging in it regularly to reduce stress and to maintain both short- and long-term health and well-being. The module will also cover strategies for recognizing burnout and reducing caregiver stress.

That is also why our partner organization, HCAP, is offering a free workshop all about self-care for caregivers.

Care workers can take this 1.5 hour workshop online to learn the following topics:

  • What is self-care?
  • Practical ways to deal with stress and challenges
  • Cost-effective tips, ideas, and exercises to try at home

The course will be taught in English with interpretation in seven (7) other languages. See below for the 2023 workshop dates:
